Our passion…
In 2013, Larry’s dad moved into an apartment in a retirement home following his wife’s death. As his health declined, the family could see he needed more help. However, every time he was encouraged to consider a move to Personal Care, he declared, “If I move over there, I’ll die.” After multiple falls, it became clear he had to move in 2016. Unfortunately, it was too late for him acclimate well and to benefit from Personal Care. He had to go directly to Health Care instead and did not live more than a year afterwards. If Larry’s dad and family had read his facility's Living Well & Finishing Well manual, it very well could have helped him navigate those later years more effectively.
Larry and Nancy moved in with Nancy's elderly parents and cared for them for six months before they died in 2018. And since then, Larry and Nancy have been caregivers and Power of Attorney (POA) for additional family members and friends. They have a wealth of caregiving experience!
In 2020, Larry's doctoral project took shape as the facility manual Living Well & Finishing Well at Calvary Fellowship Homes. It benefited residents of that retirement community by reducing fears of the future, giving them a clearer picture what might lie ahead, and equipping them to make wise choices and live intentionally. It helped residents to be Living Well & Finishing Well!
Larry and his wife Nancy a book for all seniors and their families in 2025 called Living Well Finishing Well: Beginning Conversations about End of Life. This practical, easy-to-read, short (just 98 pages) book can be a super starting point for conversation, living well, and finishing well. This book is available on Amazon as a print book for seniors to fill in the blanks and for families, as print or eBook, to see what the folks are reading.
The book on Amazon is for everyone, but organizations and CCRCs can benefit from the customized manual for facility residents. The goal is education that brings awareness, intentionality, and good communication to seniors and their caregivers. We hope YOU take advantage of this resource that can help YOU to be Living Well & Finishing Well.

What we do for fun!
We met on the eHarmony, a Christian dating website, in 2014 and married in 2015. We found we enjoyed lots of common interests such as riding motorcycles, parachuting (yes, jumping out of airplanes) and travel. Today one of our favorite activities is riding our electric-assist bicycles on trails around the country. Because we LOVE to travel together, customizing manuals for facilities is a great adventure. Of course, we also adore spending time with our sixteen grandkids, age thirteen and under!
